Later this summer, mobile phone carrier Sprint is expected to bring to the market their first smartphone that would include support for 3D content, the highly anticipated HTC EVO 3D, and has just announced new content that would be available for the handset.

Gameloft, HTC and Blockbuster are only some of the companies that would load exciting content on this device, the carrier notes, adding that there would be games, movies, music, apps, and more 2D and 3D content for users to enjoy straight from the start.

Based on a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor and running under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile operating system, the device would easily prove a multimedia powerhouse, Sprint notes.

Not to mention that HTC EVO 3D also comes with dual, rear-facing 5-megapixel cameras, which would enable recording of 3D content. A front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera capable of video calling is available on this smartphone as well.

The hardware specs of this device are complemented by the software that would be loaded on it when released, including the HTC Watch movie application, for fast access to 2D and 3D movies and television programming on demand.

HTC Watch enables users purchase or rent movies, starting at $2.99 to $3.99 for rentals, and going up to $8.99 for purchases. The HTC EVO 3D would also come pre-loaded with “The Green Hornet 3D” movie.

The mobile phone would also include the Blockbuster On Demand mobile app, with access to even more movies, featuring price tags that range from $2.99 to $3.99 for rentals, with purchases priced at $4.99 and up.

Beside movies, HTC EVO 3D would include support for 3D gaming from Gameloft, such as a free Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem 3D demo version, with a sleek graphic style, impressive animations, and slow motion episodes.

Gameloft Storefront will be loaded on the phone, which enables users access the company's offering, including 3D games like Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles and GT Racing Motor Academy. Prices start at $4.99. The mobile phone sports 3D HD (720p) video capture capabilities, and enables users easily upload videos and photos on YouTube or social networking sites like Facebook. With Qik, live video chatting is available, with DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) capability that enables users share content on other devices at home.
