Best Buy Mobile is set to make the Android-based HTC EVO 3D smartphone available for pre-order for those Sprint customers interested in the new handset, if some of the latest reports around the Internet are to be believed.

Moreover, it appears that some Best Buy stores are already offering pre-sales of the new device though the release was made quietly, and people might not actually know about it.

The offering is not being advertised or promoted, but those who would like to purchase the new device and would ask for it should be lucky enough to be offered the possibility to reserve a unit for the time when it goes for sale.

The guys over at Android Central even managed to put their hands on an internal document from the retailer, which states clearly that the device should not be promoted, but offered only to those who would not make another purchase.

Here's what the said internal memo reportedly reads:

“This is meant to capture only those customers coming into our stores inquiring about the EVO 3D who are otherwise not purchasing another phone today. In other words, if a customer asks, you can tell him or her about the pre-sale. Otherwise, mums the word.”

The news site also notes that they even went into a store and confirmed that the new 3D-capable Android smartphone was available for pre-order as long as you inquired on it.

When announcing the new device in March, Sprint did not confirm a specific release date for it. The carrier said that users should be able to enjoy the phone sometime in summer, and it seems that the release date is getting closer.

No specific info on when would the handset become available for purchase emerged for the time being, but it might not be too long before Sprint unveils more on the matter, so stay tuned to learn the news.
