As previously rumored, wireless operator Sprint will carry the Nexus One on its airwaves too. The handset, already available for T-Mobile and AT&T users in the United States, was announced ever since January to become available for Verizon's customers too, and now Sprint steps up and makes it all official: a Nexus One model with support for its network will also be released via Google's web store. However, the price plans available for those willing to purchase the Nexus One with a Sprint contract were not unveiled for the time being.

[ADMARk=1]“Nexus One is a powerful device that belongs on a powerful network. This is another step in our continued partnership of innovation with Google,” said Fared Adib, Sprint vice president of product development. “Sprint customers already have the option of two amazing Android devices with Samsung Moment and HTC Hero. It is a natural fit for us to add Nexus One to the list of choices available for Sprint customers who want the best value in wireless with the best in Android.”

Just as it happened with T-Mobile and AT&T, and will happen with Verizon too, Sprint won't sell the Nexus One through its retail channels. Those interested in making a purchase will have to head over to Google's online store for that, where they will find the Nexus One available with all the necessary contract options, accessories and the like. According to Google, the online experience of its web store is meant to offer users simplicity so that one can easily match the device with the service plan that bests fits one's needs.

“While a pricing plan has not yet been determined for Nexus One, we are confident that it will be consistent with Sprint’s commitment to deliver more value than our competitors and keep pricing simple,” Adib said. “Right now, our Sprint Everything Data 450 plan with Any Mobile, Anytime(SM) gives customers unlimited calling with any mobile phone in America, unlimited text and unlimited Web for just $69.99 per month – the same price AT&T and Verizon charge for just unlimited talk. Our Everything Data plans include unlimited GPS Navigation at no extra charge and annual phone upgrades with Sprint Premier.”

Nexus One comes with the Android 2.1 OS on board, and its specs list shows a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 800 pixel (WVGA) resolution, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, flash and geotagging, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 3G QSD8250 chipset inside, clocked in at 1GHz, 512MB Flash, 512MB RAM, support for 32GB of external storage through microSD cards, 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1400 mAh battery inside, and others more.
