Unveiled about two weeks ago, Kyocera DuraCore has just gone live at Sprint. Initially slated for a November 13 release, the feature-phone is now available for purchase for $69.99 with a new or eligible upgrade and two-year agreement, and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Kyocera DuraCore come pre-loaded with Sprint Direct Connect, which allows groups to communicate faster and easier via Sprint's push-to-talk services.

In addition, the phone was solidly built to last, so customers who are looking for a device that can withstand even the toughest conditions should try this one out.

In this regard, the DuraCore is designed to meet Military Standard 810G for dust, shock and vibration, and is encased in a rubber-like Dura-Grip surface that improves user's grip over the phone, hence the name.

Unfortunately for some, Kyocera DuraCore is a non-camera phone, which means it lacks a photo snapper. It looks like the handset is aimed at customers with jobs where cameras are prohibited.

In the messaging front, the device supports SMS and MMS, as well as Sprint Direct Connect, allowing for instant, one-to-one push-to-talk communication with other Direct Connect subscriber.

Obviously, the technology is perfect for those who need to stay in touch with their friends, families and colleagues whenever, with the touch of a single button.

With “Call Alert with Text” capability, users can send an audio alert with an optional text message to another Direct Connect subscriber and let him know that they are trying to reach him and why.

The “NextMail” feature works about the same, only that users can send a recorded message to any email worldwide or mobile handset via text message by simply pushing the Direct Connect button.

Other highlights of the Kyocera DuraCore include: bi-directional speakerphone, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, 2.5mm headphone jack with PTT headsets support, and Sprint Family Locator.
