Sprint Nextel has launched a promotion that can make you win no less than 1 million dollars. The promotion is called "The SprintSpeed Million", it is presented by Motorola and it has to do with car racing.

It doesn't matter if you're a big race fan or you hardly know anything about racing. If you feel lucky, all you have to do is participate and select the driver you think will win this year's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship. Entries are accepted between July 15 and September 3 at any Sprint retail store or by SMS from any phone connected to the Sprint or Nextel network. Customers can also enter the competition on-line, from Sprint's website.

Dean Kessel, director of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series marketing for Sprint, declared: "We are always looking for ways to get fans closer to the sport. This promotion will certainly accomplish that for 12 finalists, who are going to get an amazing behind-the-scenes experience. Of course, one of those 12 race fans also will become a millionaire."

After the Richmond (Va.) International Raceway race that takes place on September the 8th, 12 sweepstakes finalists will be drawn (randomly) and paired with the drivers they chose in the entry phase. Those finalists paired with the first three drivers in competition for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship will go to Homestead-Miami Speedway on November the 18th to see the season finale. The million dollar prize will be given to the finalist paired with the driver who wins the championship.

The SprintSpeed Million promotes Sprint's new Motorola Deluxe ic902 and it is sustained by considerable media and marketing initiatives. For example, Denny Hamlin, the famous pilot currently under contract with Joe Gibbs Racing, appears in a television spot released on July 15. Print advertising will also be used, featuring Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart and other notable race pilots. Furthermore, at each track from the seven races of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, fans will be able to watch sky divers, branded golf carts, card stunts, trucks and uniforms and participate to exclusive interactive activities.
