It is probably the most popular streaming service in Europe, however Spotify has become popular among the US citizens mostly due to its multiple (failed) attempts to enter the American market. It seems the wait might be over sooner that some believed if the service does launch in mid-July, as rumored.

According to an article on The Noisecast, the Swedish service is supposed to be launched across the Atlantic between “July 5th and July 15th.”

It seems this information comes from an email exchange with “an executive of a major record label” who is well acquainted with the situation.

Another information revealed by the aforementioned emails is the price: a monthly subscription will cost $10/month, while offering a free version that will most likely include ads (like the European counterpart does).

In addition, Spotify is believed to be initially launched as an invite-only service so that the record labels have the chance to test the market before getting fully involved.

As risky as this might turn out to be, the European service has already applied this technique before and it has been a success - after all, the best way to attract users is by granting them access to the service gradually, so as to boost its appeal.

Basically this means that the Spotify’s popularity will increase by word-of-mouth, as the early testers share their impressions and make the others curious about all the soon-to-be newly-released streaming service.

Although there were no details regarding the platforms supported by Spotify, it is safe to say that it will be available for both desktop and mobile devices.

There are already numerous competitors in the music streaming business, so it will not be easy for a new player to gain Amercian members.

On the other side, considering the numerous past endeavors of Spotify to enter the US, it is best to take all this information with a grain of salt until official confirmation comes.
