No longer a rumor

It's nice when rumors turn to be true. It gives us lowly news merchants the feeling that what we do is not in vain and that our snooping around can actually have an impact.

Electronic Arts has just announced that November would indeed be witness to the release of the first expansion pack for Spore, called Creepy & Cute Parts Pack. The announcement regarding the expansion initially appeared on both Amazon and GameStop earlier this month and then disappeared as quickly as it came. At that time, Electronic Arts chose not to comment and most players speculated that the pack would be delayed until next year.

Now, the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack is also available on the Electronic Arts site and you can even pre-order it if you are interested in getting it. The November 18 date for release has also been confirmed by the publisher but all other info seems to be scarce. The price tag currently stands at 20 dollars, which to my journalistic eyes seems a bit high as Spore itself was launched in September.

Judging by the title, the add on will probably just offer a number of new creature parts which can be collected by those interested in creating weird and different creatures. After all, most of the fun I've had with Spore (and no, I've not reached the much lauded Space Stage yet) comes from designing all sorts of mutant looking creatures which can then be left to their designs as I move on to create even more gruesome aliens.

Even since Electronic Arts announced that Spore would be the new Sims, we were expecting to see add on packs and creature parts popping up, but barely two months after the release of the game seems just a bit too quick. Let's see how long it takes them to create a furniture pack for Spore.
