Coming in November?

Well, the people at Electronic Arts were certainly not joking when they said that they created Spore to be a platform, just like The Sims, designed to receive numerous packs and add ons as time goes on. There are signs that the first pack to augment the Spore experience is not too far away.

GameStop briefly published a listing detailing something called the Spore Cute & Creepy Parts Pack for the PC version of the game. The price listed by the retail chain was 19.99 dollars per copy and the release date was presented as November 18, which is just a little over a month from now. The listing for the supposed add on is now nowhere to be found on the GameStop site and the company is currently not commenting on why it was pulled down and why it was listed in the first place.

The name suggests that the pack will probably enhance the Creature Creator element of the game, where you get to use available parts and DNA to create a creature that satisfies your playing needs and your aesthetic requirements. It may be that Electronic Arts believes that there are currently to little options available for the players to create a truly unique creature or it may be that they are interested in making up with the fan community after the storm generated by controversies which were created around DRM, piracy and limited accounts.

The price tag is low enough to attract people, especially if the number of creature parts introduced is big and if they are varied to attract players.

The fact that the page for the product was put up only to be later pulled down by GameStop could mean one of two things: either the date for the release is not set yet and we should wait a bit longer to see when the Cute & Creepy Parts Pack hits or Electronic Arts has decided to create a bigger add on, which will integrate this pack.
