Leading on-demand transcription service SpeakWrite announced recently the launch of a mobile application aimed at users of an iPhone, Blackberry or Android-based device. According to the company, the new software solution is meant to offer users a new way to upload dictations, conversations, speeches, photos and other material. SpeakWrite already offers its 35,000 customers the possibility to receive professional transcripts sent by email in about three hours, and now they can use more methods for recording the materials.

The new application aimed at smartphone users is meant to offer an increased ease of use, the company notes, adding that users are now able to record audio and photos on their handsets and then upload the content instantly. As an example, one can describe verbally the findings in a certain area, record the sayings on the smartphone, add a photo, send them to SpeakWrite, and have the transcription available in the email inbox in about three hours.

SpeakWrite comes as a free software solution, offering the following features to users: - Record Audio — Users can record and store any length audio - Transcribe — Users can submit audio files to SpeakWrite, and receive a transcribed document back within a few hours - Dictate + Photos — Users can dictate comments on photos taken with their smartphone, then receive files back with the comments and photos integrated into a single word processing file - Record and Transcribe Telephone Calls — Users can record telephone calls on their smartphone and receive complete written transcriptions of conversations

According to the company, its customers already use various means for recordings, including phones, faxes, handwriting, and more, yet now the features available within smartphones can simplify the process even more. SpeakWrite’s services are available for a wide range of occupations, including attorneys, adjusters and appraisers, inspectors, authors, police, salespersons and more.

“We've spent more than a decade developing the systems, tools and processes to quickly and reliably produce transcriptions for attorneys and other users across the country,” said Richard Jackson, SpeakWrite’s president and CEO. “This new smartphone App makes our service even more user-friendly, as busy individuals ‘on the go’ can record and upload valuable information from anywhere, anytime using their iPhone, Blackberry or Android smartphones, and still get a written transcript returned to them in a matter of hours.”
