SPB Software recently announced that its critically-acclaimed SPB Mobile Shell user interface will be bundled in Sony Ericsson's Vivaz and Vivaz pro smartphones in APAC region. The announcement is part of the agreement between SPB Software and Sony Ericsson, which sees the former as offering its SPB Mobile Shell with certain Sony Ericsson phones.

One of the best thumb-able user interface on the market, SPB Mobile Shell has been optimized to work with one of the most widespread operating system, Symbian.

These are not the first Sony Ericsson smartphones that receive SPB Software's customized user interface, as the software developer already pre-installed SPB Mobile Shell to Xperia X1, Xperia X2 and Sony Ericsson Aspen.

“The new software solution will give our Vivaz and Vivaz pro users the opportunity to customise their handsets according to their needs in order to make the devices truly their own,” said Peter Ang, Vice President, Marketing, Asia Pacific region, Sony Ericsson.

“Users will continue to benefit from the Symbian platform, personalising their entertainment experience by accessing great third-party applications online through the Symbian developer community,” continued Ang.

However, this is the first time that the collaboration between the two companies brings the 3D UI bundled with Symbian OS devices, such as Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Sony Ericsson Vivaz pro.

For those out of the loop, SPB Mobile Shell is a software solution that brings unique, customizable user interface to touchscreen devices.

Thanks to its thumb-able menus, multiple screens and widgets, integrated weather forecasts and a 3D carousel with special eye-catching visual effects, makes handling the device a smooth, easy and convenient experience.

“Sony Ericsson's Vivaz / Vivaz pro is a modern device for active and energetic people. We customized SPB Mobile Shell for Vivaz / Vivaz pro to allow users to use their handsets on a new level so that they could easily operate their device, enjoying its fresh look and fresh usability. We wanted to keep Sony Ericsson users going with the times”, said Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, CEO of SPB.
