It's time for Japanese shoppers to gain access to yet another product that the rest of us mere mortals can get a hold off, Sony just announcing they have shrunk the Vaio Y Series from 13.3 to 11.6 inches making this a really interesting option for all the road warriors out there.

This actually means that, despite its size, the new VPCYA19FJ has nothing in common with netbooks, as it comes powered by a 1.33GHz Core i3-380UM processor and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

These are accompanied by 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, Intel HD graphics and 802.11 b/g/n wireless networking as well as Bluetooth connectivity and a webcam.

On the display side we get a hold of a 1366x768 LED panel, pretty well suited for such a small screen, a chiclet keyboard being also added to the mix for that Sony style that we all have become accustomed by now.

Other features include gigabit Ethernet networking, four USB slots, a built-in card reader as well as a HDMI output for connecting the VPCYA19FJ to your HDTV more easily.

All of these are packed inside a small and light-weight chassis, Sony stating the VPCYA19FJ tips the scale at just a bit over 1.4kgs in its standard configuration that provides users with six hours of battery life.

Adding an extended battery will increase this value to 11.5 hours according to the Japanese company, although that also means that you will have to carry a somewhat heavier laptop along with you.

As I stated before, this will be available only to Japanese customers for now, the release date being set to November 27 for an estimated 110,000 yen or 980 Euros.

Unfortunately, it still remains unclear if other parts of the world will also get this too, or when is this going to happen if Sony has such plans. (via akihabaranews)
