While quite a few surveys seem to point out the fact that consumers, while truly fascinated by 3D HDTVs, are not yet ready to commit to purchasing one just yet, that's not stopping the companies who manufacture such products from promoting their device in multiple ways, the latest we've come across being a fairly interesting instructional video from Sony.

Within this video guide (which you can find embedded at that end of this very article), Sony spokesperson, Omar Gurnah, explains exactly what features you should look for when considering buying a 3D TV.

As far as we're concerned, the guide is a tad way too...well, mainstream consumer friendly, to say the least (I mean come on, just about everyone out there knows that every 3D HDTV can also play normal 2D programming, you don't have to point that out specifically), but at least it will help users get a fairly good idea of what they should consider when purchasing such an expensive device.

Another topic tackled by Sony's rep is the age-old “LCD vs. Plasma” issue, related directly to the level of brightness each of these solutions provide.

Equally important is the problem of the viewing angle (namely, the user's position relative to the TV), which can affect the overall quality of the 3D experience, as well as the level of comfort provided by the 3D glasses.

Last, but certainly not least, comes the question of content, where Sony's PS3 really makes a difference, since it enables not only the playback of 3D Blu-ray discs, but also 3D gaming.

Needless to say, since this is, after all, a video created by Sony Europe, it points out the advantages provided by the Japanese company's own products in just about every single situation, whether we're talking about type of display, overall design, image quality, etc., but if you move on past that, it's a nice enough thing to watch, especially if you're not exactly up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of technology and HDTVs.
