14 DAY TRIAL // Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced two special editions for Gran Turismo 5, a very expensive Signature Edition and a Collector’s Edition. Those who purchase the Signature Edition will have the chance to enter a competition that will test both their virtual and real-world driving skills.
The Signature Edition, which retails at 180 Euro, will contain:
- Metal sculpted box finished in Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Obsidian Black - Exclusive Gran Turismo branded Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG 1:43 model car - Gran Turismo leather wallet containing Signature Edition competition entry card - Branded USB key with Polyphony/Mercedes-Benz trailer - Gran Turismo branded metal key fob - Signature Edition coffee table book featuring the beautiful cars and locations of Gran Turismo 5 - 200 page Apex drivers magazine with hints on driving technique, car tuning, future technologies and more - Five in-game cars from the ChromeLine collection and six from the Stealth collection
The competition will task players to meet a series of in-game challenges, after which they will have to show off their driving skill at the AMG Signature Edition driving school. The contestant who performs the best will win a real life Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG car. Kazunori Yamauchi, the Gran Turismo series' creator, has called it the “most exciting car in the world right now,” according to the European PlayStation Blog.
All competition entrants must be at least 18 years old and be in possession of a driving license. They must also be citizens of the following countries: UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE and Saudi Arabia
The Collector's Edition is priced at 80 Euro and host less content. It features an exclusive commemorative #5 slip case, special edition inlay art similar to the Signature Edition, the same set of five ChromeLine vehicles and Apex driver's magazine and five collectible art-cards featuring beautifully rendered images selected by the team at Polyphony.
The Stealth collection is also available for customers who pre-order any version of Gran Turismo 5, provided they live in a country with access to the PlayStation Store. The Stealth collections is comprised of slick black in-game models with performance enhancements of the following cars: Mazda 787B, Honda NSX GT500, Audi R10 TDI, Nissan GT-R GT500, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, McLaren F1. Gran Turismo 5 will be launched on the 2nd of November, exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
