A lot of big titles will arrive

The PlayStation 3 didn't get to the best of starts when it was first launched by Sony, as it was gravely unsupported by quite a lot of developers and publishers, thus people who bought it found that they had only a few games that could be played by the big, black Japanese console.

But after over 2 years, things are beginning to change, and, at least according to Scott Steinberg, the vice president of product management at Sony Computer Entertainment America, the lineup of titles to hit the PS3 in the following months is “almost an embarrassment of riches,” which will make individuals definitely buy the console to the detriment of its rivals.

“After Killzone 2, we've got MLB 09: The Show and then inFamous,” Steinberg says. “It's almost an embarrassment of riches and it really bombards the competition with games that show the power and advantages of the PS3. We're shipping a great line-up and it's relentless and AAA quality. Starting it with Killzone 2, we're going to arrest the momentum from competitors with titles like MLB 09: The Show, which some are calling the best sports title ever made. Then, in summer there's inFamous and you'll get to see even more excellent titles at E3. If PlayStation fans thought that we'd rest on our laurels from last year and, if competitors thought that we'd punched ourselves out, both are mistaken!”

Those are some very confident statements, but should you look in perspective, titles such as God of War 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves or Heavy Rain are very anticipated by fans and will surely generate a lot of sales for the consoles. Hopefully, the company won't stop here and will continue to bring fresh new games to its lineup so that people won't use the PS3 just as a Blu-ray player or for other features.

What do you think? Is the PS3 going to finally gather up its strength and surpass the Xbox 360 in the near future? Let us know by leaving a comment.
