Many Sony fans eagerly awaited the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week, hoping that the Japanese company will finally reveal two of its most rumored products, the PSP2 and the PlayStation Phone.

Sadly, that hasn't happened, as Sony executives always dropped the old "we do not comment on rumors or speculation" excuse.

That didn't stop the executives of the Japanese company from teasing and hinting at the existence of new products, however, with PlayStation division boss Kaz Hirai continuing to make mysterious statements.

The executive said that Sony is close to fulfilling a new strategy this year, with the introduction of brand new devices and integration of the PlayStation brand into other electronic products.

According to Hirai, Sony's strategy "encompasses driving the development of a variety of new strategic products and services including tablets currently in development as well as smartphones, all the while of course integrating the know-how and the assets that we've accumulated from our PlayStation business."

The PlayStation boss then said that 2011 would be the year of massive reveals, after 18 months of hard work.

"In 2011, you will start to see an implementation of a strategy we've developed and continually refined over the past 18 months. And you will see this strategy executed in the form of great new products and services coming to market that leverage Sony's strongest assets."

"In addition to launching a line of Sony tablets, we'll be building upon the video, music, game and book offerings on our Qriocity and our PlayStation Network services to deliver a compelling, unique experience for Sony across a wide range of consumer electronic devices."

Massive details were leaked earlier today about the PlayStation Phone, presumably called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, which might be launched later this year.

At the same time, more details also appeared about the PSP2, the next generation portable handheld from Sony, including a pretty interesting artist's representation of the device, which is set to be launched at the end of the year.
