A brand new report about the inevitable PSP2, an all-new PlayStation Portable device from Sony, has appeared, this time saying that its impressive hardware will allow it to display graphics on par with early PlayStation 3 titles.

We've heard a lot of things about the future PSP2, and even if Sony won't talk about it, it's certain that a new handheld will be released by the Japanese company, in order to directly compete with Nintendo's 3DS device, set to be released early next year.

Now, IGN has just published a report from a source that has had "direct hands-on experience with the forthcoming handheld."

According to the report, the PSP2 can display graphics on par with early PlayStation 3 games.

This comes despite the fact that the processing power is around half of the full pledged PS3, but largely because it shows the graphics on a smaller display.

As such, the PSP2 can display stunning graphics with its hardware resources, but IGN didn't reveal any actual data about the internal components of the new handheld.

The report did confirm previous rumors about other features of the PSP2, including the fact that it will have a front and rear facing cameras and even two analogue sticks with concave indents.

Last but not least, the PSP2 will bear some features from the PSP Go, meaning it will be able to run downloadable games from its internal memory, as well as from memory cards.

The PSP2 is still just a rumor though, but many voices are saying that Sony is gearing up to officially announce the new platform early next year, and that it will go on sale before the holiday season of 2011.

The device will target the upcoming Nintendo 3DS, which will appear next spring around the world, as well as mobile platforms like Apple's iOS devices or Android phones.
