No OS update for X2 released yet

Sony Ericsson has recently decided to close down its Xperiancers blog and move it to the company's new product blog, where details on the newly released Android-based X10 handsets are also available. The blog was launched back in September 2008, and those interested in learning specialized information on the company's Xperia X1 and X2 handsets were able to find it available there.

“We’ve had nearly a million hits and thousands of comments, it’s been a great learning curve for us and we hope the blog has proved useful to you. However, the way we see the Xperia brand has changed significantly since we announced the Xperia X10, Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro. It’s now absolutely at the heart of our portfolio. So… it makes sense that we move the Xperia related content over to our new product blog in time for the X10 launch,” a recent post on the Xperiancers blog states.

As most of you might already know, the Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker delayed the release of its Window Mobile-based Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 device a little longer than expected, and some of the rumors that emerged late last year suggested that the company would focus only on Android and Symbian in 2010. Nothing has been officially confirmed so far, but the shutting down of the Xperiancers blog and its transition to the company's product blog might be seen this way.

However, last month, the handset vendor announced via the Xperiancers blog that it would still work on enhancing the experience its Xperia X2 could offer to users. As WMPoweruser notes, the company committed to a Windows Mobile 6.5.2 update for the handset, which was said to land in March, and further revealed that the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 operating system would arrive on the device in May. However, with March coming to an end and no OS upgrade for X2 released yet, it remains to be seen what Sony Ericsson's plans for its Windows Mobile-based phones are.
