Japanese-Swedish joint venture Sony Ericsson has just announced the launch of the first GreenHeart smartphone from the Xperia family, in UAE, the Xperia neo.

With the launch of the Android smartphone, Sony Ericsson is trying to keep a foothold in this market to ensure that the Middle East remains among the primary regions to receive it latest Xperia devices.

Unveiled back in February at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, Xperia neo is one of the latest Android smartphone introduced by Sony Ericsson.

The smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) platform and boasts a stylish shape that not only looks good but it is ergonomically designed to fit perfectly in the user’s hand.

Equipped with a single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1GHz and complemented by an Adreno 205 GPU, Xperia neo features a 3.7-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen, which is based on the Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine.

Furthermore, the phone sports a 8.1 mega-pixel camera that boasts Sony’s Exmor R for mobile sensor.

The CMOS sensor allows the capture of high-quality, bright pictures and HD video recording even in poor light conditions, which can be shared on an HD TV via the built in HDMI-connector.

Sony Ericsson Xperia neo packs 320 MB storage, 512 MB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

When it comes to connectivity options, Xperia neo is an all-rounder, as it comes with HSDPA support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and DLNA function, Wi-Fi hotspot feature, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, as well GPS with A-GPS.

Xperia neo is now available in three colors (blue gradient, silver and red) at major electronic stores throughout the UAE at a price of AED 1,799 (about $490).
