Mobile phone carrier Vodafone UK is set to bring to its airwaves a new range of appealing devices during the ongoing year. After adding the white BlackBerry Torch to its coming soon section, the wireless services provider made room for another device there, the newly launched Sony Ericsson Xperia arc.

The upcoming mobile phone has got its own “coming soon” page on Vodafone UK's website, though no specific info on when it would be released emerged for the time being.

Running under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, the new device boasts a large 4.2-inch touchscreen display for incredible HD viewing, along with an 8.1 megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Some of the main features of the new device would include: - Ultra-slim smartphone - measures just 8.7mm at its thinnest point - and only 3mm more at its thickest - Ultra-HD viewing - the Xperia Arc uses the same technology found in Sony BRAVIA TVs - Ultra-new Android - enjoy the latest updates and improvements with the new Gingerbread version of Android

The specifications list of Sony Ericsson Xperia arc would include a fast application processor, complemented by 512MB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

The new mobile phone also comes with support for 3G networks, as well as with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, and with built-in GPS receiver.

The new device would also offer support for two-way video calling, as well as for fast web browsing, not to mention that it packs great entertainment capabilities, and more.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc would also offer fast access to the Android Market, as well as to various services from Google, including YouTube, Google Maps, Search, or Gmail.

“Whether you want to edit important documents on the go or simply read them, there's a wide range of business apps among the 100,000 apps in Android Market. A handy icon on one of five of your Xperia Arc's homescreens takes you straight to Android Market,” Vodafone notes on its website.
