Sony Ericsson W890i, one of the latest phones from Sony Ericsson's Walkman series, was just approved by FCC and is ready to conquer the US market with its slim, elegant design and its excellent music capabilities.

W890i was first announced back in November 2007 and managed to attract many mobile users with its look and specs. The handset measures 104 x 46.5 x 10 mm and weighs 78 grams, hence it's a slim and lightweight phone, perfect to fit in any pocket. It works on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM and UMTS 2100 MHz networks and provides HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS connectivity.

Being a Walkman phone, Sony Ericsson W890i comes packed with various music features: Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, SensMe (enabling users to create playlists based on mood), TrackID (identifies songs based on audio-fingerprints), PlayNow (the fast and easy way to personalize the phone with MP3 music tones), MegaBass and FM Radio with RDS. W890i has an internal memory of only 26 MB, not much at all for a music phone, but fortunately the phone is offered by Sony Ericsson with a 2GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) card, enough to store a large number of songs.

Sony Ericsson W890i has a 3.15 Megapixel camera that doesn't come with LED Flash or Auto Focus, but the high number of Megapixels will still (hopefully) allow users to take pictures at a quality above the average. Other specifications of the phone include a 240 x 320 pixels 262K TFT color display, WAP 2.0 / xHTML, HTML (NetFront), RSS reader, over 4 hours of UMTS and HSPDA talk-time, 9 hours of GSM and EDGE talk-time, as well as a stand-by time of more than 310 hours.

The release date for Sony Ericsson W890i is unknown yet, but it's highly probable that the slim music phone will hit the US market in February for a price of at least $400. We hope it's not too much over $400.
