Sony Ericsson W580i has just hit the Canadian market and promises to make its mark with its innovative performance. The Walkman phone is capable of changing songs only with a flick of the wrist, one capability which has never been used before by this company.

The touchscreen craze is at its peak at this moment, with everybody being excited by this new technology. Sony Ericsson has seen interaction with the phone user slightly different, concentrating on movement rather than on touch. The technology has been used before in other handsets and now it's present even in some games in Japan. Sony Ericsson's initiative to bring it to new lands is quite welcomed, although its success is rather questionable.

"The W580i takes the style and music performance of our previous Walkman phones to an entire new level", says Michelle Digulla, General Manager for Sony Ericsson Canada. "This handset not only delivers the high-quality music features consumers expect from the Walkman brand, it also offers new and innovative multimedia applications designed to enhance your overall mobile experience", he further adds.

Sony Ericsson W580i holds just about all it needs in order to become quite successful on this market. "With its innovative functions, high calibre music, imaging capabilities and appealing slider design, the W580i will build upon the great success we've had with the Walkman phone line to date", Michelle Digulla also observes.

The phone comes in extra slim sizes, with only 14 mm in thickness. It has a Walkman 2.0 music player and Disc2Phone Music Management software for handling music files. Sony Ericsson W580i also has EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity. Moreover, its 512 MB of internal memory can be increased with the help of a 4GB memory card.

Sony Ericsson W580i is available for now in Canada for the price of USD 150 with a three-year contract with Roger Wireless and will soon be available in all the operator's stores or online.
