According to the latest news on the Web, Sony Ericsson might be on its way to come up to the market with a new mobile phone, Sony Ericsson W518a, which is supposedly the follower of the W508, a device announced at the beginning of this year, and which also has an American variant in the works.

For the time being, the Sony Ericsson W508 hasn't been made available on the market, yet the company is expected to launch it as soon as the second quarter of the ongoing year, and we should be able to purchase both the European and the American versions of the handset.

As for the newly spotted Sony Ericsson W518a, it is reported to basically be the same device as W508, only that this time A-GPS has also been included in the package. There are no photos of the new mobile phone available at the moment, yet the Sony Ericsson W518a should come with the same form factor as W508, which means that it is also expected to be a clamshell as its predecessor.

And since the two should be much alike, the Sony Ericsson W518a should also sport touch-sensitive external music controls, as well as Walkman player, Stereo Bluetooth capabilities, FM radio with RDS, music features like Shake control or SensMe, memory card slot for additional storage space, and a photo snapper.

As you can see from the name of the device, the Sony Ericsson W518a is aimed at the American market, yet for the time being there is no information on when it might land on the shelves. At the same time, it is also uncertain whether we'll also be able to see a W518 version launched for the European and Asian markets, nor when it could become available. Hopefully, the company will soon provide us with some official info on the handset and more light will be shed on all these details.
