One of the new Sony Ericsson mobile phones that is expected to be launched during the ongoing year is Athena, a device that was first spotted back in October last year. Just like back then, we still do not have an official name for the device, although rumors around it already started to surface.

According to the latest news on the Web, it seems that the mobile phone maker plans to name its Snapshot candybar Sony Ericsson S312. For the time being, no picture of said device is available, although there is some info on what it should look like.

The Sony Ericsson Athena, or S312, if its name is to be this one, comes to the market as the successor of the company's S302. From what we've heard, the device should sport a display able to provide a 176 x 220 pixel resolution. At the same time, it is also expected to come with a photo snapper that would feature more than 2 megapixels, although it won't include auto-focus.

There is no other information on other specifications that the Sony Ericsson S312 might feature, yet it seems that the device will come to the market as a rather affordable one, which might suggest that it won't be too much of a feature-packed handset, but more like a low-end, simple-looking one.

Sony Ericsson is reported to be planning on having the new S312 device on sale starting with the third quarter of the ongoing year. If so, then we should be able to learn more details on the handset in the near future, both in terms of capabilities, and as regards the markets where it should be on sale and the exact price tag it would sport, so stay tuned to learn more as soon as the info is available.
