Sony, together with its Team Ico studio, have just revealed that the developer's upcoming projects, the Team Ico Collection, which includes HD revamps of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, alongside the full pledged The Last Guardian, have been delayed.

PlayStation 3 owners had a lot of great titles to look forward to this year, with blasts from the pasts like the Team Ico Collection, which included two of the most critically acclaimed games ever to be released on the PlayStation 2: Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

Alongside the high-definition remakes of the aforementioned games, Sony's Team Ico was also working on a brand new title exclusively for the PlayStation 3, in the form of The Last Guardian.

We've already seen quite a lot of details appear about both projects, but now, sadly for fans that were eagerly awaiting them, Sony and Team Ico have announced that they will not make their intended release periods of Spring 2011, for the collection, and Holiday 2011, for The Last Guardian.

The announcement was backed up by a formal apology from Team Ico Director Fumito Ueda.

"I announced at last year’s Tokyo Game Show that the release timing of The Last Guardian which is currently being developed would be holiday 2011. However, to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio’s obligations, I decided to postpone its release timing. I sincerely apologize to all the customers who have been waiting for “The Last Guardian” for so long, but I beg for your patience. I will also announce the new release timing at a later time."

Ueda assured fans that he and his team are working hard to make sure that both projects will be completed as soon as possible and with the utmost degree of quality.

New release dates are set to be revealed in the future, so, until then, PlayStation 3 gamers will just have to wait it out.
