Formerly known in white and for iPods, Sony's MEGAXpand-ed dock will support iPhone too

Sony's ICF-C1iP iPod alarm clock just got a facelift. The C1iPMK2, shipping in May for 100 bucks, is the first from the Japanese electronics giant to support the iPhone, as it sports this adjustable "backstop" to secure any Apple player of any size, as long as said players feature a USB port.

According to Sony, iPod shuffles and even a number of non-Apple players can also connect to the dock. However, since Sony's latest product of the kind is aimed specifically at the iPhone, other players connect through a line-in jack which obstructs simultaneous charge.

One more thing and we go straight to the features. In order to remote control the connected iPhone, you will have to set it to iPod mode.

The Speaker Dock / Clock Radio for iPod features an Adjustable Backstop, which allows you to use any iPod in the dock for easy access to all of your music, through your clock radio. Also included is the Wake/Sleep feature, which you can use to wake up to your iPod, the radio or a buzzer.

The dock also offers Automatic Time Set (ATS) and Automatic Daylight Savings Time (ADST). The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time. As for Daylight Savings, the built-in calendar recognizes the dates and automatically makes the proper time adjustments when it is time to do so.

I can't help but wonder: how is it that a company like Sony counts Automatic Daylight Savings Time as a main feature to one of its products? It only kicks in twice a year for Christ's sake. Considering the life of one of these things in your home... Eh. You also benefit from a Digital AM/FM Tuner feature, which lets you choose from a wide variety of radio, talk and music programming, while a full function wireless remote is also included.

The built-in Stereo Speakers feature MEGAXpand tech... whatever that is. A sound enhancer, I hear.
