Sega of Europe has announced a new addition to the Storybook Series of Sonic Games, entitled Sonic and the Black Knight and developed exclusively for the Nintendo Wii consoles. This second adventure game will be released in spring 2009 and Sega promises it will offer Sonic fans an experience they will never forget. For the sake of the franchise, we truly hope they are right!

As I've said before, Sonic and the Black Knight is part of the Storybook Series that began with Sonic and the Secret Rings and expands the story. The blue hedgehog will be taken into the world of Arthurian Legend and it will be offered the chance to become a knight. Of course, you should not expect an easy job, so be prepared for ultra-fast action, classic Sonic-style.

"After the success of Sonic and the Secret Rings we're delighted to announce a second title in the Storybook Series," said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, Sega of Europe, "Following Sonic on his way to knighthood will excite players of all ages".

As usual, the game is created by the Sonic Team in Japan; the developers plan to bring innovations to the title, even though some fans might disagree with their ideas, but they're backed up by the story: since it's all about knights, Sonic will receive a sword which will make it easier for him to save the day. Really, now! A sword? This will be tough for hardcore fans to accept.

However, the sword problem might be solved by the fact that Sonic and the Black Knight will fully use the Wiimote and Nunchuk and, according to the developers, it will offer the most interactive experience ever. We keep hearing similar things from every single producer on the planet, so we're not ready to believe them right now. But we're ready to wait until spring comes, when we get to test the game and find out for ourselves.
