But company gave everything when it came to creating the game

Sledgehammer Games saw the opportunity to work on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as a perfect way to deliver their best work, even if this meant working under a lot of pressure.

Michael Condrey, who is the co-founder and the chief operations officer at Sledgehammer Games, stated, “I’d be dishonest if I said I didn’t feel the pressure. To be working on Modern Warfare 3, with 30 million plus fans demanding nothing less than an amazing sequel to Modern Warfare 2 … yeah, we knew it was going to take everything we had to give.”

The developer says that the effort from the team was great, but that they all understood this is the opportunity of a lifetime for any game creator.

Glen Schofield, who is the general manager at Sledgehammer Games, added, “We realize there are millions of fans out there that are counting on us to deliver something that can be held up to Modern Warfare 2. There are so many people looking forward to playing Modern Warfare 3 that I’d be kidding you if I didn’t say we feel some pressure.”

When Sledgehammer Games was initially formed and announced that it was working with publisher Activision, the rumors suggested that the team was working on a new third-person spin-off of the Call of Duty franchise, which would serve as a sort of companion piece for Modern Warfare 3.

Since then the team moved to help Infinity Ward on the main project and the third party game seems to be all but abandoned.

It's not clear what Sledgehammer will work on in the future, whether it will get its own Call of Duty project or serve as support for both Treyarch, which will create next year's entry, and Infinity Ward.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now out on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC.
