14 DAY TRIAL // Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was eagerly awaited by millions of gamers from all around the world but, after yesterday's release, quite a few weren't thrilled with the experience, so the user review average on aggregator website Metacritic is now at a shocking 1.4 out of 10.
Modern Warfare 3 was heavily hyped by its publisher, Activision, so whether you were a gamer or not, you knew the game was coming out yesterday.
Now, after the game's reached the hands of millions of gamers from all around the world, it seems that the experience wasn't to everyone's liking, as hundreds of angry players have bombed its user review average on website Metacritic.
As of this article's writing, the average user review score for the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 is 1.4 from 126 ratings, the PS3 version has a 2.1 average from 338 ratings, while the Xbox 360 edition is at 2.6, from 1014 ratings made by users.
While some user-submitted ratings are positive and quite a few are mixed, the majority is very negative, with many users complaining of bland graphics, repetitive gameplay or the short single-player campaign.
"I cannot believe the hype for a game that is basically the same thing over and over again," one user said. "Sorry but I played this game 3 years ago, nothing new. Graphics are dated, I have seen better, sounds are just pathetic and don't get me started on the horrible campaing mode. Save your cash if you already have Cod 4, you will not miss out on anything."
"Oh dear, I've just played a game that's identical to one from 5 years ago... same old same old, but no anti-cheat features, same old tired graphics, ok so it has a few new classes....it's not like anyone actually works as a team. Back to Counter-Strike methinks," another user posted on the website.
In comparison, Battlefield 3, the biggest competitor of Modern Warfare 3, has a user review score of 7.1 across most of its platforms.
