We've said time and time again that Skype has really managed to take by storm the way in which we envision VoIP communications, and things will change even more on the future, especially if more devices such as the CHATAttach 160 Group Speakerphone from ClearOne manage to find their way onto the market. The CHATAttach 160 is a hands-free group speakerphone system for larger groups using Skype, that handles video and audio calls with many participants per location via its ability to cover medium to large conference rooms by connecting multiple units together. With true plug-and-play integration with Skype, the CHATAttach 160 requires no driver installation, since all the users have to do is simply plug it in and all incoming calls will ring into the CHATAttach 160. The CHATAttach 160 consists of two CHAT 160 pods, two USB cables, a power adapter, quick start guide, and the CHATAttach Expansion Kit, which includes a 10-foot Attach cable that connects the two CHAT 160 pods together. Each CHAT 160 pod can also be used separately when a 'daisy chain' configuration is not needed, making the system extraordinarily versatile and the system connects to laptops or PCs via USB for easy, hands-free audio communication using Skype or other conferencing software. Each CHAT 160 pod contains three microphones for 360-degree coverage and incorporates HDConference, ClearOne's suite of audio technologies which specifically address audio conferencing challenges such as echo, ambient noise, fidelity, level control and microphone priority, the result being a group speakerphone system with crystal-clear audio for fatigue free audio and video communication. "This is a versatile system that delivers crystal clear, natural, and fatigue free sound for any business or enterprise," said Darrin Thurston, Vice President of Product Management, Conferencing & Collaboration for ClearOne. "Now individuals can finally use Skype to communicate with a conference room full of people without concern about the poor or inadequate audio conditions that typically plague medium and large conference rooms.” The CHATAttach 160 frees groups of co-workers from having to 'huddle-up' during a conference call or video chat and makes it more comfortable for six to ten people in a large room to use a laptop or PC to conduct voice and video conference calls," concluded ClearOne's rep. The CHATAttach 160 has an MSRP of $849.99 and is available for purchase via the company's usual retail chains.
