Planet Next, a newly founded company focused on iPhone application development, has recently announced the availability of Drawthings 1.0. The new sketching application for iPad and iPhone lets users make simple drawings on their devices.

Drawthings includes a wide range of sketches grouped in the app's gallery, which can be duplicated or can be used as the basis for other designs

Users can draw using white-on-black and black-on-white modes, which can be easily switched, or they can choose to draw in red.

“Until now, there hasn't been an app that is great like a piece of paper is great - when you pick up a piece of paper to sketch, you don't have to spend time choosing line thicknesses or figuring out how far you're zoomed in. Drawthings is what you can reach for instead of that piece of paper,” stated company founder Matt Aronoff.

“Whether you are sketching out a new website layout or letting your daughter create her first masterpiece, Drawthings 1.0 will help bring your ideas to reality,” added Aronoff.

As soon as the user finishes a sketch, he can share it through various online services such as Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox and Tumblr.

All sketches are saved by default to the Photo Library, but user have the option to copying them to the clipboard and/or email any of the drawings.

The main features of Drawthings include:

- The ability to create sketches in a few minutes; - Saves all work automatically; - Generous undo/redo; - Line smoothing; - Duplicate any sketch with one touch; - Print sketches from within the app (iOS 4.2 required); - “Hide everything” mode shows just the sketch and nothing else with a two-finger tap; - Retina graphics compatible; - Multitasking-ready. Drawthings 1.0 is compatible with iPad and iPhone devices running iOS 3.2 or later and requires 2.4 MB storage space.

The application is available for download from App Store and can be purchased for $4.99.
