14 DAY TRIAL // A few days ago, makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy was telling the media she was engaged to be married with music mogul and television personality Simon Cowell. Until his appearance on Jay Leno, the American Idol judge has kept mum on the topic but, yes, he and Mezhgan are indeed engaged, as People magazine can also confirm.
Putting on an appearance on Leno, Cowell must have expected questions about his engagement – yet it was still a surprise that he answered them so directly. The topics he avoided touching upon, though, were those of a wedding date and of whether he wants children or not. However, when Leno brought Mezhgan on the set as well, Simon played it really cool, as the video at the bottom of this article will also illustrate.
“Simon Cowell scowling – typical. Simon Cowell blushing? Indeed. The famously cantankerous American Idol judge squirmed in his seat on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday as the host dissected reports of Cowell’s engagement to Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy. ‘Are rumors you’re engaged true?’ Leno asked. Cowell took a moment and responded carefully, ‘Are they true? Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy’,” People writes.
“As the audience cheered, Leno asked about the huge ring Hussainy has been sporting on her left hand. ‘I thought she broke her arm,’ Leno joked. Cowell responded, ‘It’s quite a big one, yes.’ When Leno called Cowell out for turning red, Cowell confessed, ‘I am blushing.’ Leno asked, ‘Where did you, or may have, gotten engaged?’ Cowell said, ‘I find this very uncomfortable. I was asleep, I think. No, look, I bought her the ring in London’,” the e-zine further informs.
In the same interview, Simon talks of his American Idol favorite this season, how he would have wanted Adam Lambert to win the last one and how things are very different without Paula Abdul around. Those fans who loved the chemistry between the two should not lose hope because, though he wouldn’t offer more details, Simon is certain they would work together again sometime in the future.
