Carrie Prejean’s comments on marriage on the Miss USA final did not cost her her Miss California tiara, but heads still got to roll. Shanna Moakler, a former Miss USA and pageant director on the Miss California USA Organization, has just resigned from her position, saying the beauty pageant no longer represented the same thing it did for her years ago, TMZ informs.

The decision seems to have come in the aftermath of Donald Trump announcing that Prejean gets to keep her tiara despite the picture scandal that took over the media in recent weeks, Moakler being one of Carrie’s most bitter critics for her opinions on marriage. The fact that Prejean continues to be Miss California against all odds is, it seems, much more than Shanna can stomach at the moment.

“Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization.” Moakler says in a press statement just released. Nevertheless, as TMZ also points out, it’s no more than just a couple hours ago that she was standing on the same stage with Prejean, all smiles and arms intertwined, as newspapers were quick to print stories with headlines like “Bygones: Miss USA forgives Miss CA” or “For better and for worse, the Misses stick together.”

“I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth. I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams.” Moakler continues by saying.

As fans must know, Moakler has been a very vocal critic of Prejean since the scandal first started, saying on more than one occasion that, while Miss California was to be admired for speaking up her mind, she did not deserve to win the Miss USA title on account of the fact that she lacked compassion and understanding, and was immensely prejudiced.
