As Carrie Prejean is still doing the media rounds, explaining the answer that cost her the Miss USA crown, another beauty queen, Shanna Moakler, is speaking out on the controversy, saying Prejean did not deserve the title in the first place. In a post on her official MySpace page, Shanna says Prejean’s answer to the question of whether the state should allow same-gender marriages was sanctioned accordingly, because she did not deserve to be Miss USA.

Moakler begins her message by saying that, no matter how strong the media backlash against the reigning Miss California gets, she will not “abandon” her because what makes America so great is the freedom for everyone to speak their own mind. However, as brave as Prejean was for stating her opinion, she did not deserve the Miss USA crown for the simple reason that this is not what the title stands for, Shanna believes.

“But I want to explain to the masses, what the TITLE of Miss USA stands for to me, and being a former Miss USA, I feel I have a pretty good sense of it. Miss USA travels the world and she competes at the Miss UNIVERSE pageant as a representation of her country. She is a [sic] ambassador, a role model and needs to be able to show diplomacy on all issues. Sadly for California THIS is where we lost the crown. Not for her answer or even her beliefs, because again, sadly IN California her beliefs at this point in time are the majority. But she lost the crown because she wasn’t able to convey compassion for ALL the people that as MISS USA she would be representing.” the former beauty queen explains.

Prejean saying that she was raised to believe that marriages should only be between man and woman was taking matters a little too personally, though, Moakler states, just like many celebrity magazines have also pointed out. She could have chosen a more diplomatic approach, that is, a way to state her beliefs without offending anyone, the post further says. Still, the star believes something good can come out of this, because it has drawn attention to a topic that is of vivid interest these days.

“It did cost me my crown. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do. It is a very touchy subject and I see where [Hilton] was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.” Carrie Prejean was saying the other day about the comments that have made the tour of the world since last weekend. Still, she insists she was “biblically correct” in making them, and would not change anything about them even if she had the chance to do so.
