Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that, this week, those who are interested in playing some new songs in Rock Band will be getting access to tracks coming from Serj Tankian, Smash Mouth and The Used. Those who are gaming on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft or on the Nintendo Wii can download the new songs today, while those who use the PlayStation 3 from Sony as their main platform will need to wait until Thursday in order to get them.

The exact song list is comprised of: “Empty Walls” and “Sky Is Over” from Serj Tankian, “All Star” from Smash Mouth and “Blood on My Hands,” “Born to Quit” and “The Taste of Ink” from The Used. All the tracks are master recordings and there's no option to get them all as a pack.

Those who are interested in them will pay 160 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360, 200 Wii Points on the Nintendo game console and 1.99 dollars when picking them up from the PlayStation Network, the only service that does not bother with virtual currency when it comes to purchases.

Harmonix and MTV Games are saying that “Sky is Over” and “All Star” are also offered in the LEGO Rock Band Music Store. The selection of music available in this new store is smaller than in the main Rock Band one because the two are making sure only tracks that are completely safe for the entire family are offered.

The companies involved want those who have become fans of Rock Band over the years to still play it as they prepare their next releases. Green Day Rock Band, which will have a structure similar to The Beatles game, will be launched on June 8 on the Xbox 360, the PS3 and the Wii and the two are also working on a proper Rock Band 3.
