14 DAY TRIAL // For a very long while there, the question of “are they or aren’t they?” kept popping up in reference to Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, who obstinately refused to commit to an answer as to the state of their relationship. That will happen no more, Selena says for Seventeen magazine.
The two made their first public appearance together at the Vanity Fair Oscars 2011 party, as we also noted at the time and, since then, they have put little effort into hiding the fact that they’re an item.
Speaking with Seventeen magazine, Selena says she was done hiding the relationship from the media and the fans.
Moreover, even if she received death threats from Justin Bieber fans who did not see their romance with kind eyes, she says she’s ok with it – and actually appreciates it that he has such loyal, diehard fans.
“I don’t like hiding. I do like to keep certain things to myself, but at the end of the day, I’m eighteen, and I’m going to fall in love. I’m going to hang out with people, and I’m going to explore myself, and I’m okay with that,” Selena says of her decision to go public with Justin.
She even jokes about the appearance at the VF party, calling it their “prom night” – except that there was no corsage involved, though “there should have been.”
As for the occasionally negative reactions her romance with The Biebs prompted in his fans, Selena claims she can understand that, since she still likes to lie to herself, pretending that Zac Efron is “her husband.”
While she admits she still has a crush on him, even if she weren’t with Justin right now, she would still not make a move for it, because Zac’s ex, Vanessa Hudgens, is her friend and she loves her too much for that.
Still, this makes her understand Justin’s fans, who feel “cheated” at the thought that he’s with her.
“I do see the passion that a lot of these girls have, and it’s beautiful. I love it. I really do. It’s special,” Selena explains for the magazine.
