With output of up to 700W

Since the past few months have been packed with releases of products that have no qualms about drawing out every ounce of power they can find, hardware makers have been quite quick in supplying the market with a new batch of PSUs for all of its levels. Coming to continue this trend is the Japanese company Scythe, which has just completed its “Stronger” series of 80+ Certified models.

OCZ has already made its own move and has formally added the Silencer Mk II line of 80+ Silver- and Bronze-certified products to its portfolio. Scythe's Stronger line seeks to match that offer and is composed of models based on an updated version of the technology used in the Kamariki 4 collection. As for design, the Stronger series do not only seek to be pleasant for the eyes, but they each come in two versions, a standard one and one with a modular cabling system.

Granted, how well a PSU looks is not exactly relevant, considering that it isn’t exactly on display inside a system. What matter more are its output and stability, as well as cooling efficiency and noise level. Scythe naturally did its best to optimize all of these aspects. As such, the PSUs have wattages of up to 700W and a controlled 140mm Slip Stream fan. End-users may also directly connect two extra spinners, adjusted by an intelligent fan controller, according to load and PSU temperature. Furthermore, there is a honeycomb structure at the back of the device, which enhances airflow.

The Stronger 500W, 600W and 700W power supplies are priced at 50 Euro, 58.40 Euro and 75.20 Euro ($65, $75, $98), respectively, and are backed by a three-year warranty. As for the modular Stronger versions, they come in the same output options, only with prices of 58.40 Euro, 75 Euro and 83 Euro ($75, $97, $108), respectively.
