Power supply for enthusiasts and power users

OCZ may have stopped making systems, peripherals and coolers, but it doesn't seem like the company has any plans to abandon its power-supply business. In fact, its Silencer series has been on the market for over two decades now, which is all the reason one needs to expand it. As such, OCZ has unleashed the Silencer Mk II, which packs 80+ Efficiency, strong Wattage and a quiet fan inside a smaller form factor, for “the right balance between standard, server-class topology and state-of-the-art PSU architecture.”

The new PSU uses a single +12V rail and a thermally controlled 135mm double-ball bearing fan optimized for a strong airflow at low noise. In addition, the power supply is designed with tight and regulated electrical noise and ripple. This construction enables a temperature rating of 50 degrees Celsius (twice that of the industry standard). Combined with compliance with the ATX12V and EPS12V specifications, this is meant to turn the Silencer Mk II into “the optimal power solution for multiple power-hungry drives and video cards.”

"I am thrilled [to] see the new Silencer Mk II brought to market and provide the premier power management solution to power users of all kinds, from enthusiasts to industrial OEMs," Ryan Edwards, director of product management at OCZ Technology, commented. "The Mk II is a perfect blend of proven, long-term technology and the newest cutting-edge design. With 25 years of high-performance power supply experience, PC Power & Cooling has always been at the forefront of the computing industry, and the Silencer Mk II represents an exciting new chapter in a long history of providing uncompromising quality and lasting value to its customers."

The Silencer MK II will be available in 80+ Silver-certified 650W, 750W and 950W versions, as well as an 80+ Bronze-certified 500W model. All will be backed by a seven-year warranty. Unfortunately, prices have not been mentioned as of yet.
