Owners of large 17” laptops have always complained that the usual cooling pads are too small to place the notebook securely on, or that the cooling fans were not enough for their mobile workstation. Japanese distributor Sanwa Supply reportedly addresses these issues with a new laptop cooling pad designed for large notebooks, called 400-CLN020.

Most of the top area of the cooler has a perforated metal surface, but we don’t think it is quite a secure way to place the laptop. The metal surface usually lets the laptop slide down very easily. The best thing would have been to include some rubber holders.

The cooler encloses a large 200 mm low-speed fan that provides sufficient air flow over a large surface area, without needing other smaller ones to do the job. This solution is quieter than a two or three-fan solution and the fan spins at 700 RPM ±10%.

The device is currently selling for 37 USD. That’s around 29 EUR for the European customers.
