Korean optics manufacturer, Samyang announced in a recent press release the new 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS wide-angle prime lens for APS-C format digital cameras.

After focusing on a new development program in order to bring the best possible optical parameters, Samyang's new 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS is company's first lens that comes with nano crystal anti-reflection coating offering enhanced optical capabilities similar to the best wide-angle prime and zoom lenses on the market.

The new nano crystal anti-reflection coating system provides superior light transmission, higher contrast and increased resistance to reflections, which improves overall optical resolution. Due to this new type of coating, the lens has a lower reflection factor than the usual (U)MC system.

The new Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens features a complex construction with 14 elements in 10 groups including besides the nano crystal coating system, 2 aspherical elements to reduce chromatic aberrations to a minimum as well as 1 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element.

Having a wide field of view of up to 109.5 degrees and benefiting from the rectilinear image mapping function, the new Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS lens is ideal for architecture, landscape and indoor photography.

In addition to that, the fast f/2.8 aperture makes it usable even in low light conditions without making any compromises. The Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS also comes with an embedded lens hood designed to reduce its overall weight by approximately 160 grams and make it more compact.

The lens will be compatible with Nikon, Canon, Sony and Pentax APS-C mounts as well as Canon's EF-M mount, Fujifilm X-mount, Four Thirds, Micro Four Thirds, Samsung NX and Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras.

The lens will hit market shelves from the end of January 2014 at a suggested retail price of £469.99 / €562 / $768 for the Nikon version, while other fittings will be available at a suggested retail price of £429.99 / €515 / $703.
