The device will probably land on the market in 2014

Rumors about Samsung releasing a larger 12.2-inch tablet have been piling up, recently. Not so long ago the slate has been spotted getting a second Bluetooth certification.

Soon after, a leak appeared online showcasing the tablet’s specifications and some pretty impressive benchmark score results. The tablet also appeared at the FCC, revealing the slate will feature a 14.1-inch diagonal.

Now, sources from inside Taiwan-based supply chain makers reported by DigiTimes also claim that the Korean tech giant is gearing up to unleash a larger slate. According to them, the company has taken to working with China-based Shenzhen O-Film Tech that will provide Samsung with film-based capacitive touch solutions.

The sources also indicated that production for the larger slate would kick start at the end of year. It is also expected that Samsung’s move will prompt other brand vendors to take up the same endeavor and start building tablets with larger screens such as this.

As a quick round-up, the Samsung 12.2-inch tablet is expected to feature an impressive resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels. Power will come from a quad-core 2.4GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset in concert with 3GB of RAM. 32GB of RAM of storage will be found on board plus two cameras (8MP on the back and 2MP in front).

The FCC filing also revealed an S pen slot for the slate, so it could be assumed that Samsung will end up releasing a larger version of the Galaxy Note 10.1.
