South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is among the handset vendors that would launch Windows Phone 7 devices later during the ongoing year, and the Samsung i8700 should be one of the devices it would bring to shelves in the near future.

This is not the first time the Samsung i8700 makes it to the headlines, and, if rumors pan out, it won't be the last time either.

According to previous rumors on this device, we might see it launched on the market as the Samsung Omnia 7, which would make sense in a way, since the Omnia series managed to become very popular all around the world.

However, no official confirmation on Samsung planning to add the upcoming Windows Phone 7 device to its Omnia series emerged for the time being.

Of course, we know for sure that Samsung would launch Windows Phone 7 devices on the market during the ongoing year, since the company itself confirmed the move officially last week, but specific info on what phones it would launch still lack at the moment.

The Samsung i8700 (Omnia 7) won't be the only Windows Phone 7 handset to land on shelves from the leading mobile phone maker during the ongoing year, but it is among those who were already detailed a little before.

The forthcoming mobile phone already received all the necessary approvals from the Global Certification Forum, and might land on shelves sometime before the end of this month.

For the time being the device is expected to make an appearance on the market in Europe, but chances are that Samsung would also deliver it to the US market in the near future.

The video below (available courtesy of MobilityDigest) should offer some more info on what the new device can offer, especially since it provides a closer look at the phone's software and at some of its capabilities.

Among the interesting aspects the video brings forth, we can count what appears to be some Samsung specific hub, with weather and stock price updates, as well as a glimpse at the manner in which the phone takes photos.

Microsoft is expected to launch the new Windows Phone 7 mobile platform officially on October 11th, and there are great chances that the Samsung i8700 would be made official at that time too.
