The fact that Samsung's first Android device will become available for purchase in the UK via O2 is no mystery to anyone, yet it seems that those interested in it will also have the chance to acquire the device unlocked. While this might sound as good news on the one hand, the price tag for the unlocked Samsung i7500 Galaxy might be discouraging to some.

According to reports on the Internet, the unlocked Samsung i7500 will cost a whopping £499, which is around $808, or €580. At the same time, we learn that the handset will come contract free through a single retailer, King of Gadgets. For the time being, it seems that the new Samsung Android phone is out of stock, though things are likely to change in the near future.

As for the availability of the Samsung i7500 Galaxy with O2 UK, the latest reports show that the carrier is set to introduce the device as soon as this month, and not in August, as previously reported. There are no exact details on when the launch will take place, yet UK mobile phone users will soon be able to enjoy one of the best feature-packed Android devices in the world.

For those who might not be fully aware of what the Samsung Galaxy is set to come around with, we should mention a large touchscreen, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with flash, 8GB of internal memory, 3.5mm audio jack, a body that is 12mm thin, and the Android 1.5 operating system, or Cupcake, as the iterations is also known.

As many of you might already know, the Samsung Android mobile phone has already been launched on the market in France and Germany and, with the upcoming availability in the UK, it is expected to reach even more areas this summer. Although there are no details on the pricing it will sport in other countries, the one that it comes with in the UK might be present elsewhere as well.
