Jinpeng U900 is the Soul wannabe

Unlike Nokia or Apple, Samsung is not a brand that had the honor of inspiring too many Chinese manufacturers into copying its mobile devices. Still, we've recently spotted a brand new clone of Samsung U900 Soul slider, which was sold until now in more than 1,000,000 units. The copycat Soul is named Jinpeng U900 and, at first glance, it might be mistaken for the real thing.

One of the strongest points of the original Soul is its Magical Touch navigation pad, which was reproduced in the Jinpeng handset with almost perfect accuracy. There's also Samsung's logo on the front case of the phone but, in the well-established tradition of "Nockia" or "Somy Ericsson", it's written "Samsvng". Moreover, the User Interface of the real Soul seems to be copied too.

Besides the cloned elements, the Jinpeng U900 brings the following features: quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS, dual SIM technology, a 2.6 inch TFT display with 240 ? 320 pixels and (only) 16K colors, Music player, FM radio, Bluetooth, WAP browser, memory card support (up to 4GB), document manager, SMS and MMS capabilities, two embedded games and support for several languages (Chinese and English included). Unlike the camera of the real Soul slider, which offers 5 Megapixels, auto focus, image stabilizer, flash and video recording, the camera packed in Jinpeng U900 is a poor 1.3 Megapixel one with video recording.

Jinpeng U900 can be bought from the Chinese website Eemobi. Its retail price is listed between 564 and 665 Euros, but this doesn't make any sense, as it would make it more expensive than the original U900 Soul. And it's almost certain that the functionality of the Jinpeng can't be compared with the one offered by the Soul made by Samsung.

Anyway, in case you're interested to see the Jinpeng U900 in action, it comes with a video, which can be viewed below:
