Announced three months ago, Samsung’s bada flagship smartphone, the Wave 3 is now shipping in markets across the globe. Initially, the device will be available in France, Germany, Italy, Russia and Romania, and will hit shelves in other markets by the end of the year.

Samsung Wave 3 is one of the first smartphones to offer the bada 2.0 operating system, the latest version of Samsung’s mobile platform.

The device features the same design layout as most of its Wave series’ predecessors. It measures 125.9 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm, and is encased in full metal, though this doesn’t make it too heavy at only 122g (battery included).

The medium weight of the smartphones is explained by the fact that the Wave 3 is constructed with anodized brushed aluminum.

The Wave 3 is equipped with a 1.4 GHz single core processor and packs 4 GB storage and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The Wave 3 is a smartphone to benefit from the power of the bada 2.0, as well as a newly expanded suite of Samsung applications and services. We will continue to enhance our bada platform and its eco system for Wave smartphone line-up by developing more innovative features, application and content services,” said JK Shin, president and head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

There’s also a 5-megapixel camera on the back that features autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording and playback capabilities.

The smartphone comes pre-loaded with an improved Social Hub 2.0 service, an integrated Store & Player, Music Hub service and access to tens of thousands of localized apps via Samsung Apps.

We believe the Wave 3 is a smartphone that will truly deliver Samsung’s commitment to the bada platform in the mobile industry, and I hope customers around the world will enjoy it and take full advantage of its many innovative features,” concluded JK Shin.
