Samsung has just announced the launch of it Solstice II handset, which will be available through AT&T on November 7.

Samsung Solstice II is a feature-phone that comes with the Korean manufacturer's TouchWiz 2.0 user interface.

The device includes a 3-inch touchscreen display with 65K colors support and 400 x 240 pixel resolution, built-in GPS receiver with AT&T Navigator for turn-by-turn directions and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support.

Solstice II is the successor of the original Solstice feature-phone, which was part of AT&T's offering more than a year ago.

Unfortunately, except a few design changes and the small boost in memory, the second flavor of the Solstice doesn't come up with anything new.

It sports the same mediocre 2 megapixel camera, as well as the same 1,000 mAh battery rated for up to 5 hours of talk time or 250 hours of standby.

Other key features of the handset include: 256 MB internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB), microUSB, as well as a mobile Web browser.

The feature-phone measures 109 x 54 x 12mm and weighs 95g (battery included). It is quad-band compatible (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) and supports HSDPA 7.2Mb/s technology.

According to the carrier, the Solstice II also supports Vlingo, a subscription-based voice command application that lets users make calls, compose text messages, search the web, and more using their voice.

Other AT&T services and features embedded include: My Cast Weather, PicDial, Star Tweets, MobiTV and MobiVJ, AT&T AppCenter, AT&T Social net, AT&T Music and RadioAllSport GPS.

Solstice II can be tagged as a mid-range quick messaging handset flavored with the TouchWiz 2.0 UI, which offers users one touch access to frequently used applications and social networking services.

Samsung Solstice II will be launched by AT&T on November 7th for $29.99 with a new 2-year AT&T contract.
