While Nexus S

might be the next great thing in terms of smartphones running under Android, it will certainly not be the last, as Samsung is getting ready to bring to shelves a new flagship device as soon as the first half of the next year.

According to the news, the new device should pack a large touchscreen display, most probably a 4.3-inch or a 4.5-inch “sAMOLED2,” which, most probably, points at Super AMOLED 2, the guys over at Engadget suggest.

Basically, this means that Samsung indeed managed to make a series of advancements from the AMOLED screens we already spotted on handsets during the ongoing year.

Not to mention that the info is in line with the newly unveiled panels from Samsung, which included a 4.5-inch Flexible AMOLED display, complemented by another 4.5-inch AMOLED Panel with WSVGA resolution.

The new technology was demonstrated at the FPD-International conference, held in Japan from November 10th to the 12th.

However, the display is not the only appealing thing the upcoming device would sport, it seems.

We should also expect it to pack a 1.2GHz application processor inside, complemented by 16GB of internal storage, most probably with a microSD memory card slot included into the mix as well.

At the same time, the upcoming device is rumored to have an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of 1080p video capture.

Not to mention that 14.4Mbps HSPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity options will be there, as well as the Android Gingerbread operating system.

According to leaked info on the new device, it should arrive on shelves with a ultra sleek design.

There are no official details available on when the new mobile phone might make an appearance on the market, but there are great chances that it would be unveiled sometime in February, during the MWC.

Take a look at the slides available courtesy of Engadget to make a better idea on this device, even if it is not this specific handset displayed in both documents.
