Shortly after Samsung announced the availability of “Value Pack” update for Galaxy S in South Korea, European Android users have started to report that the Galaxy W is getting the custom pack as well.

The folks over at SamMobile claim that Samsung has started the rollout of the first “Value Pack” updates for the Galaxy W in Europe with Romania and Slovakia being the first to get it.

For the time being there is no official scheduler for the release of the “Value Pack” for Samsung Galaxy W, but we can safely assume that it will reach all European countries in the following weeks.

It appears that this pack is based on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread, which received several Ice Cream Sandwich improvements as promised by Samsung several weeks ago.

The following Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich features have been added within the new update:

- Face Unlock (face recognition); - A new camera icon and the ability to take snapshots while recording videos or taking pictures; - A new “Power Key Ends Call” setting place under Accessibility menu; - A new “Vision” that can be found under Accessibility menu; - Users can now change text size in Contacts, Calendar, Messaging and Memo.

Unfortunately, there is mention of launcher improvements for the moment, but, hopefully, Samsung will come forward with an official changelog for this “Value Pack” as well.

Keep in mind that this “Value Pack” update might be a bit different than Samsung Galaxy S’ version, which is why some features might not be available after updating.

“Value Pack” update for Samsung Galaxy W can be downloaded OTA (over the air) or through Samsung Kies desktop software, reports claim.

Samsung Galaxy W owners who don’t want to wait until the update is pushed to their devices can head over to SamMobile for more details on how to download and install the “Value Pack” update.
