Claims are based on test conducted between July and September 2012

It’s obvious that Android enthusiasts are less likely to choose the iPhone 5 over the Galaxy S III, but the same goes for Apple fans who own one of the company’s smartphones.

Both flagship smartphones have strong features and both have downsides as well, so customers may want to do some research before grabbing one or the other.

When it comes to design, everything is subjective; so we can’t say for certain which one looks better, but performance can be easily determined by putting the devices to various tests.

Based on mobile tests conducted between July and September 2012, on six devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S III, iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab), the folks at Strangeloop Networks claim the Galaxy S III offer 9% faster performance than the iPhone 5 when it comes to loading webpages.

These results tell us that, although LTE networks have improved mobile performance, pages are still far too slow. The latest mobile user surveys tell us that two out of three mobile shoppers expect sites to load in 4 seconds or less. A page that takes 8.5 seconds to load over LTE is still falling short of user expectations,” said Strangeloop CEO Jonathan Bixby.

However, the 9% performance improvement was only achieved with the LTE version of Samsung Galaxy S III, though the difference between 3G and LTE speeds was not that important, as industry experts have previously claimed.

In this regard, the report mentions LTE was 27% faster than 3G, which is far from what experts have stated in the past. For more details on the report, check out Strangeloop’s full survey here.

Mobile users who shop the full site spend up to 7.5 times more per visit than m.site visitors. Preventing mobile shoppers from browsing your entire site is like putting a giant roadblock in your checkout line,” concluded Bixby.
