Today, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced the availability of the new Apple iPhone 5 on its network, informing users that they can grab the handset through its nationwide retail locations starting with 8 a.m.

This is the first flavor of Apple’s popular smartphone to hit shelves with support for the wireless carrier’s 4G LTE network, while also packing a slightly different design when compared to the previous models.

Verizon’s 4G LTE service currently covers over 75 percent of the US population, meaning that those who purchase the new iPhone 5 will benefit from wide access to it around the country.

Moreover, the wireless carrier is committed to expanding the coverage of its LTE network to more areas around the US, while also being set on expanding it in already existing markets.

“The first iPhone to be available on Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network, iPhone 5 has been redesigned to include a new 4-inch Retina display and an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing-fast performance,” Verizon notes.

“It also comes with iOS6, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features.”

iPhone 5 users on Verizon’s network will also benefit from worldwide connectivity in more than 220 countries for voice and over 205 for data, the carrier announced. Over 165 of these markets are currently offering 3G speeds.

“iPhone 5 will be available starting at $199.99 for the 16 GB model, $299.99 for the 32 GB model and $399.99 for the 64 GB model with a new two-year customer agreement,” the carrier also announced.

The new Apple iPhone 5 device comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD video recording, as well as with a front camera for making video calls.

The handset has a lot of features to offer to its users, including turn-by-turn navigation via the new Maps app, Facebook integration, Passbook organization, as well as various new Siri features and languages.

Verizon customers who would like to purchase the device will find it on their carrier’s website via this link.
