We already knew that Samsung was planning on bringing its high-end Galaxy S II smartphone on the market in North America in the near future, but no official confirmation on the matter has emerged until now, when Canada's SaskTel announced that they would be ranging the device.

The Galaxy S II is the latest flagship Android-based mobile phone the South Korean handset vendor brought to the market, and is already available for purchase in a series of countries around the world.

It is expected to arrive in the United States as well in the near future, but it seems that Canada might be getting the phone sooner than that.

In a recent post on Twitter, the Canadian mobile phone carrier SaskTel announced that it would be carrying the handset starting with next month.

“We will be launching the Samsung Galaxy S II device in the next month that has the dual core,” the wireless carrier revealed.

No further information was provided on the matter, and the exact release date for Galaxy S II in Canada, along with details on its pricing remain shrouded in mystery for the time being.

Chances are that United States carriers will be getting the high-end smartphone on their shelves in July as well, so as not to remain behind Canadian operators, although none of them confirmed plans on the matter until now.

The Galaxy S II was launched with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform on board, with a fast 1.2GHz application processor, and a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display on the front.

The mobile phone also includes 1GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot that enables the expansion of the available storage space by up to 32GB more.

The handset also sports an 8MP camera on the back, with HD video recording, a front-facing camera for video calling, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, as well as the full range of sensors.
